I think that it's really nice to have someone updating your new stuff on your blog so "you" will be always informing the world about your new entries there.

Yep. Join on social bookmarking sites like what alessadry have mentioned. There's bunch of it. Also, do blog commenting on other niche/related blogs.

Submitting your blogs RSS feed to RSS Aggregators will help with both traffic and inbound links, which will help your SEO.

We've done this too some good effect.

First thing you can do is ask your friends and then there friend to visit your blog and post some comments on them. Second what ever article you write submit them to article directories with a link to your blog. This will take some time and it depends on your writing skill. Best of luck

Try to promote your blogs by utilizing the features of social media websites. Do not promote your website blatantly because it can lead to some crisis and it can run the risk of getting banned.
