Question Sites to promote a blog

I have recently started my own blog to support my consulting business. I am now looking for ways to build traffic to my blog. Any suggestions as to the best ways to do this? What other sites are the best to link to?

One thing I have done is finding relevant articles on sites like AC and linking to them. You can briefly describe the article in a blog and refer your readers to it.

Also, don't forget to exchange links from other blogs covering a similar subject. This will give additional PR juice as well as some scraps of extra traffic (depending on the site)

Thank you for the advice. I already submit articles to AC and link them on my blog. What is a good way to find similiar blogs? Do I simply search my theme or subject matter or is it more complicated than that?

That's what I have done - simply searching for blogs on subjects similar or somehow related to mine. You can also search AC articles written by other people and link to them from your blog.

Have to register your blog in blog exchanges such as Blog Explosion, Blog Mad,Blog Showoff and Blog Hub? The first two have very high ranking in Alexa. Joining them will instantly bring more traffic to your blog site.

Thanks kinkin for the information. I never heard of those sites before so I'll be sure to register my blog on them.

Try to submit to digg, stumble upon, deliscious. Try to answer questions on yahoo answers that are relevant to your blog and place your blog link as a reference. Participate in forums and do the same. Just be extra careful not to spam on these forums, offer genuine advice, not just your blog link.
